Super Easy Tutorial for a Gorgeous Double D-ring Belt
Hi guys! In this tutorial, I’m showing you how to make a double D-ring belt. This DIY belt is the perfect piece if you need a pop of color and it’s super simple to make. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Strip of fabric
- Two D-rings
- Iron
- Sewing machine or thread and needle
1. Gather your materials
We’re making a belt with D-rings, so you’re going to need some D-rings. You can buy new D-rings, or you can get them from your old bags. The flat side of your D-ring should be about 1-inch.
You’ll also need a strip of fabric to act as your belt. Mine is 46 inches long and 3 inches wide because I want to be a little bit extra today but pick a size that’s right for you. You’ll also need a sewing machine or a thread and needle.
2. Fold and iron your fabric
Since the D-ring for the belt is 1-inch, you’ll need to fold your fabric until it is 1-inch in width. Iron it down, so it stays flat.
Fold in the outer edges and the ends to get a clean seam before completing the final fold.
I don’t want to use reinforcement for this, but if you want to use reinforcements, you can get these. This type of fabric can also be used for the belt, and it’s already the standard 1-inch size.
3. Sew
Sew the belt closed by sewing along the open edge.
4. Add on the D-rings
Your fabric should now be thin enough to fit the D-rings, so go ahead and slide both of them on from the same side.
5. Sew
Fold the end you slid the D-rings on over and sew them together to secure the D-rings. This will keep them from sliding off.
5. Put on the belt
Here’s how to use a D-ring belt. Put the belt on like normal. Then, pull one end through the D-rings and tighten as desired.
Fold the tail end over the first ring and under the second ring. Tighten again to secure.
