I made the loveliest dress and I'm so excited to show you how I made it and how to style it up two ways, for a swanky evening out or a casual day trip!!

The pattern is the Peony Dress from Fabric Godmother which you can grab here!! > Sewing Patterns | Fabric Godmother and the beautiful fabric is an Art Gallery rayon challis, which you can buy here > Art Gallery Fabrics Legendary Rayon Challis Fabric Meadow Bold | 1189024 | Minerva

If you'd like to make one just the same!?

There are loads of steps to this make, so settle in with a cup of tea and I'll explain it all along the way! Firstly of course we have to cut out all the pieces!

Next we need to add the darts, there are 8 darts in total, giving the lovely flattering fitted shape.

Next we stitch the bodice sections to the skirt sections.

The next step is to add the zip and stitch the back skirt seam.

Then the side seams are sewn, here is a good opportunity to tweak the fit of your dress. You can baste the side seams and take the dress in at the sides, if necessary!

Now we can gather the sleeve head.

Then sew the side seams of the sleeves before inserting the sleeves into the bodice of the dress.

In this pic you can see the final step, the flounce at the bottom of the skirt has been gathered and I'm now adding it to the bottom of the dress. The sleeve flounces are made and attached in exactly the same way!

Now lets style it up. I love this every day grungy look, I'm wearing my chunky leather boots and jacket for a biker chick look.

But sexy heels and a flashing smile may be more appealing? Which styling do you prefer??
