I was very pleased with my dress as you can see from my happy smile. But, it just didn't get worn.
Out With the Unloved Dress and in With the Lovely New Cardi!
So last year I made a dress from a burn out jersey, I really liked the fabric but the dress was never worn it just stayed hung in my wardrobe. I am going to show you my refashion and I really hope it inspires you to remake those unloved garments!!
The first step was to cut up the centre back seam and lay the fabric out flat. Then I carefully positioned all the paper pattern pieces until I got them all fitting together. This was properly pattern Tetris.
Be careful to keep the pieces straight on the grain of the fabric, though!!
The pattern I chose to make really suited refashioning my dress as it had lots of quite small pattern pieces, that enabled me to fit them all together, the pattern was the Lulu cardigan by Pattern scout if you want to use the same? Once I had cut all the pieces out I just simply followed the pattern instructions, easy peasy!!
The cardigan has princess seams and a peplum around the bottom, so gives a really flattering and pretty shape.
I have worn the cardigan more times in the last few weeks since I refashioned the fabric than I ever wore the dress. so although it took a little time it was definitely worth a little effort. Refashion is rebellion!
I really hope you like my up styling and if you would like to see more of my makes you can find me on IG as @chatterstitch and on my blog https://chatterstitch.wordpress.com/
