DIY wrap skirt pattern

To get started on creating this gorgeous wrap skirt I needed to have the perfect pattern. I couldn’t wait to get started on this fashion DIY.

Cut to size
Cut the fabric

I took my waist and hip measurements and used the pattern to start cutting my fabric. I decided to make my skirt 45 cm long but you can, of course, make it as long or as short as you want.

Next, I cut the curved hem of my new, stunning skirt. This is such a gorgeous element of the wrap skirt!

Mark the darts
Sew the darts

In this next step, I used the pattern diagram as a guide and marked the darts on the fabric. This detail would definitely help make my skirt more fitted.

Sew the darts

I hopped on over to my sewing machine and sewed the darts in place. I then made sure to press the fabric so that it would sit exactly as I needed it to.

Hem the edges
Hem the raw edges

I then moved on to finish the raw edges of the skirt. I used a rolled hem foot but you can always fold it twice over and sew if you prefer.

Add a waistline
Make a waistline

To make the waistline, I used the tie from the original skirt but you can also just cut a strip from the extra fabric. I pinned it to the top of my skirt and sewed it on.

Add buttons
Add buttons and buttonholes

Next, it was time to add buttons and buttonholes to the skirt. I made sure to try it on before to make sure the buttons would be in the right positions.

Press the skirt
Press the fabric

For the final step, all I had to do was press the fabric to give my new, stunning skirt the professional finish it needed.
