Cutting the tank top straps at the back

1. Cut the straps

The first step is to cut the tank top straps at the back.

It’s important to use a good pair of fabric scissors. Be careful not to cut the actual top or dress.

Measuring how short the strap will be

2. Measure the straps

Next, decide how much of the strap you want to remove to get the perfect fit. Use the piece you cut off to measure on the other strap so that they will be the exact same length.

3. Sew on the straps

Once you have cut both straps to the same length, make sure that the straps are not twisted. Bring the ends to meet at the point where you originally cut them off.

Hold the shortened strap in place and hand-sew it back on. Start by pushing the needle through your tank top and then through the strap.

Don’t pull the way all the way through, rather go in again with the needle, this time making a loop. Put your needle through the loop and pull.

Repeat this until your strap is securely sewed on. Make sure to do the same on the other side.
