Pattern Review: Zero Waste Workwear Jacket

I'll be reviewing my second zero waste pattern from Birgitta Helmersson.

I was first put on to the zero waste gather dress by my sewing gal pal Emily. She's always in the know with what's cool, so when I do listen it really is magical. The first zero waste pattern I did was the gather dress for my Pride dress and it turned out awesome sauce, so naturally I had to try the workwear jacket. Also, Emily wouldn't stop raving about her excitement so I had to join! *Insert cheeky wink here*

Needless to say, this pattern is impressive for many reasons. It's a great product with no waste and really good instructions. I got this amazing designer deadstock printed twill from Stonemountain fabrics for this. I honestly couldn't contain my excitement. It just fit so well! And I knew the buttons had to be special so I found these gorgeous, vintage, mod pink buttons from Spain off of Etsy. They took 4 weeks to arrive. Thanks Covid. But they got here and that's the important thing.

Now the deal with these zero waste instructions is that there are no pattern pieces. It's all measurements you transfer directly to your fabric. Easier said that done when your workspace for cutting is the floor but definitely not hard. This is me just inserting a whinge in somewhere. Haha. Aside from that, everything is really straight forward. Oh but the seam allowance around the neckline to attach the collar is small so if you were like me and picked a fraying fabric, then that part is gonna be a pain because you picked the wrong type of fabric like your home girl here.

Overall, will I do this pattern again? Yes, already got my next one planned, in the proper fabric! Do I recommend it? 110%! Is it value for money? Yes, it only used 2 yards with 59" fabric. *insert jaw drop here*. So in a nutshell, I love it and I highly recommend you get it. The possibilities are endless.
