I absolutely love a good upcycle and this is one of my favorites! I took an old T-shirt and totally transformed it into an absolutely stunning, one-shoulder top. I am so obsessed with my new top. It is chic and fabulous and can be styled in so many different ways. If you have been looking for your next fashion upcycle, the search is over! Follow my easy, step-by-step tutorial and learn how to totally refashion a T-shirt into a fashion-forward, statement piece.
First, I drew a line from the neck seam to the left underarm of the T-shirt.
Next, I cut the sleeve off, cutting off the neck seam in the process.
I also cut off the seam of the other sleeve.
I then folded a piece of fabric a few times and drew a petal shape on it. I cut out the petal shape and had the perfect pieces of fabric to decorate my sleeve with. I couldn’t wait to see the end result!
To decorate the sleeve, I cut a small slit at the bottom of the sleeve and pulled through one of the pieces of fabric I had just cut. I tied a small knot in the fabric to add to the aesthetic of the shirt. I continued until I had decorated the whole sleeve perimeter.
To create a seamless finish at the top of the shirt, use fabric glue or a sewing machine to get rid of the raw edges.
This top is so incredible! How would you style this piece? Let me know in the comments below!

Knot colored beads into the sleeve cuts to add interest/sparkle. Thread the cut fabric edges through the beads and tie off. Depending on the t-shirt, you might get by with a 'rolled' diagonal edge if the fabric has a bit of stretch.
It's a casual look for young women. Girlfriend shopping trip with jeans or crops, sandals & some colorful statement earrings. An oversized T if it's long enough to conceal your backside, makes a swimsuit coverup for navigating the hotel lobby to get to the pool - big sunglasses, a stylish tote, mules, and a wide brim straw hat complete the undercover celebrity look. Crop it short and wear it with shorts and a strapless tube top. Rock it with denim and strappy high heels for casual beach bar clubbing after dark. Packs small, works big.
