Make Your Own Version of the Famous Miu Miu Necklaces for Cheap
There’s a reason Miu Miu necklaces are famous. They are, after all, positively gorgeous. I’m a lot less of a fan of their price tags, though, which vary from $1,270 to $4,500. Instead of dishing out such a steep amount of cash, I decided to try my hand at making my own versions of the necklaces. For less than a fraction of the price, of course. Personally, I’m pretty happy with the way they came out, so check out this tutorial to see how you can make your own!
Tools and materials:
- Five fake pearl necklaces, in various sizes
- Multi-strand fake pearl necklace
- Metal clasp
- Metal clip
Glue the ends of your rope
Grab your rope and cut it down to size. Then put some glue on one end and use a skewer and pliers to help you insert the end of the rope into the metal clip. Repeat this on the other side of the rope. Then take your clasp and fasten the pieces to either side of the rope. Close the clasp.
Insert rope through pearl necklaces
Take three pearl necklaces in different sizes and hold all of them open in one hand. Insert your rope through the necklaces, then grab the other side of the rope and put it through the loop. Pull it all the way through so that your necklaces form a knot.
Insert necklaces through a keyring
Grab a key ring and slide one side of one of the necklaces through it, and clasp the necklace closed. Then insert one side of the second necklace through the keyring and close it. Repeat this for the third necklace as well. Now clasp the end of the rope to the keyring, and your necklace is done.
Weave a necklace over the rope
The second necklace begins the same way as the first one. So grab some rope and repeat the first step. Now take a fake pearl necklace and attach the clasp of it to the ring of the rope. Then take the necklace and weave it around the rope.
Add a second necklace
When your first necklace reaches the end, you’re going to grab a second fake pearl necklace and clasp it onto the first necklace, then clasp them both to the rope. Weave the second necklace around the rope the same way you did with the first one. When you get to the end, clasp all the ends together.
Feed the rope through a necklace
The third necklace will also begin the same way as the other two. For this one, you’ll need a multi-strand fake pearl necklace. Grab the rope through the closed necklace, and then grab the necklace through the rope. Then add a keyring through the necklace and clasp the rope to the keyring. That’s it!
There you have it! These necklaces are all so easy to make and each looks pretty similar to the original Miu Miu necklaces if you ask me. Each one is a real fashion piece and will add to any outfit. They’ll go perfectly with an elegant style and elevate any casual look as well. Each one took mere minutes to make, and the whole project was inexpensive. I’m very happy with these results! Which of these is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
