We all know I love a good headband and recently I made a few new ones to help control my hair so today I’m sharing how to make a headband with you all so that you can make your own.

Easy Headband Tutorial Materials:

How to Make a Headband:

Step 1: Wash, dry, and iron your fabric. The cut one rectangle that measures 16 inches by 13 inches and one rectangle that measures 14 inches by 4 inches. Cut a piece of elastic that is 6 inches long.

Step 2: Fold both rectangles over lengthwise. Pin and sew along the bottom opening.

Step 3: Now you basically have two tubes. Turn your tubes right side out.

Step 4: Take the smaller tube and tuck the ends inside the tube about 1/2 an inch. Then insert the elastic piece into the tube. You may need to use a safety pin the help you do this. Scrunch the fabric tube up so that you can see the elastic on both ends.

Step 5: Take your larger tube and sew down the two open sides. Lengthen your stitch as much as you can and do not backstich any when you begin or end. Separate the two threads at each end and pull on one of the threads to gather the fabric. Gather it up until it’s about an inch wide. Do this on both sides of the large tube.

Step 6: Lay the one end of the larger tube where you gathered it on top of the elastic, so that they overlap about 1/2 inch or so. Pin and then sew it down.

Step 7: Slide the scrunched up tube over so that it covers up the area where you attached the gathered tube to the elastic. Then sew it down to secure it, sewing past your gathered area. This will make it easier to sew and ensure that that area is completely covered.

Step 8: Repeat steps 6 and 7 with the other side and you’re done!

Now you know how to make a headband so go make some and be sure to let me know how it goes!
