If you want to make the perfect dress to add to your wardrobe, this DIY is your next best bet! Infinity dresses are so in right now and can be styled to work for any occasion! Start sewing and make yourself this absolutely gorgeous dress!
To start off, I cut the skirt section for the dress. I used my waist to floor measurement to get the right piece of fabric.
Next, I cut two 60 by 15-inch pieces of fabric that I would tie around my bust. Once I had finished with the cutting I had three pieces of fabric to work with.
I moved to my sewing machine and sewed the skirt together at the back. This infinity dress has no side seams, just one seam at the center back.
Next, I worked to create a channel for the elastic. I turn the top of the skirt over by about half an inch and then stitched along the waist. I made sure to leave a gap that I could thread the elastic through.
To thread the elastic through the channel. I attached a safety pin to one end of the elastic.
I then fed the elastic through the gap in the channel I had sewed.
Once I had thread the elastic all the way through, I overlapped the elastic ends and then sewed them together. I also sewed closed the gap I had left in the channel.
Next, I marked the center front, the two sides and, center back on the waist. I recommend hemming the tie pieces before attaching them for a nice, clean finish. I then attached the ties to the waistline of the skirt. The ties were bigger than the waist so I made sure to pin them with pleats so that they would fit perfectly. I pinned from the center front to the side. I repeated this for the second tie. Once the ties were pinned on, I sewed them in place on the dress.
