Basics: The Easiest Dress in the World

I'm confident this is the easiest, fastest dress I ever made. The whole thing would've been done in less than an hour.. If I hand't decided to make my own bias tape to finish the neckline and sleeves. I feel a dolman sleeve phase starting..

TOOLS:

  • 1.5 m fabric (full-width)
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Thread & Sewing machine

I. My cut pieces (2 of the skirt piece), I'm a EU36/US4.

II. Place pieces right sides facing, pin the skirt sides, top shoulders and sides, and sew.

I checked the top for size, all good.

III. Then pinned the skirt to the top, right sides facing, and sewed.

And so I had it almost done..

IV. Just hemming...

V. .. And the sleeves and neckline left. For the latter I made some bias tape..

.. And used it to finish those. Here's more detail on how to do a bias-bound neckline.

Ready!

I could've done this out of one front, one back piece, but wasn't sure I'd get the fit of the top right on the first go.. Next one will be even faster.

xo,

Julia
