Styling a Chambray Shirt - Multiple Ways

With Spring just around the corner (at least I hope so) I figured I would show you how you can style a light weight chambray shirt. Don't know what chambray is? Let me explain. Chambray is a cotton plain-weave fabric usually dyed a light blue color. It is similar to denim but not as heavy so it is perfect for the Spring, Summer or Fall! I have styled my chambray top 10 ways in this tutorial using 3 staple pieces: leather leggings, black jeans and a black dress, HOWEVER, you can style it with anything and I will explain as I go.

For the first set of looks, I started with my leather leggings (you can use your basic go to leggings as well). The first look is the chambray top tucked in with sneakers, next is a cropped hoodie with the top wrapped around the waist, then adding an oversized sweatshirt and sneakers and finally over a long basic tee. All these looks are casual but you can dress them up by changing the shoes. Want to wear heals with look number 1? Go for it! Sandals or slides? Why not? Like the style of these looks but not the leggings? Swap the leggings for jeans or shorts.

For the black jeans, I decided to start with an all black look throwing the chambray shirt on top and adding a pop of leopard. Next, I tucked the shirt into my jeans and added some staple sandals and finally, I threw the top over a graphic tee and added some sneakers. Don't have black jeans or would prefer to wear leggings? Go ahead! Want to wear white jeans? or shorts? Yes, please! Again, you can swap out the shoes within any of the photos for something else: heels, booties, flats, slides .. I could go on and on!

For the last 3 looks, I paired the chambray shirt with a simple black dress. Similar to the leggings and jeans, you can just throw the chambray top over the dress and be out the door. You can even add a belt around the open shirt to add more definition to your waistline. Next, button a couple of buttons on top and then tie the bottom of the shirt at your waist. Still, very simple but looks cute! And finally, tie the chambray shirt around your waist, throw on some sneakers and you are good to go. Sneakers aren't your thing? Throw on flats or sandals or whatever makes you happy. These looks can be achieved with any color dress or any dress with a pattern (so basically any and all dresses). I have a black and white striped dress in my closet that I cannot wait to style with the chambray top this Spring.

Remember, embrace what makes you happy and makes you feel confident! You can wear anything you want as long as you feel good. Repurposing pieces in my closet makes me happy because I know I am getting the most out of my money. If there is something else you would like to see styled multiple ways, let me know!
