How to Take Your Outfit From Winter to Spring

The art of transitional dressing is one you can easily master with these style tips! Read on to see how you can remain chic and stylish and still be ready for whatever the weather may throw at you.

A trench coat is an essential transitional piece. Personally I would never buy a trench coat that wasn't waterproof - a good trench should be able to withstand the rain that often appears out of nowhere in Spring. Ted Baker and Tommy Hilfiger are good retailers to look at for classic trenchcoats.

It's also a good idea to switch up your colour palette when you move from one season to the next. This means that you can slowly transition your outfits from Winter to Spring and then also carry on wearing some of those Spring pieces in Summer too. I like to bring out blush and dusky pinks when the weather starts to get warmer - that signals to me that Spring is on its way!

It's tempting to wear mini skirts when the weather warms up but often it still feels a bit too cold. A good fashion hack is to wear not just one pair of tights, but two! Here I'm wearing two pairs of flesh-coloured tights to make sure I stay warm. If it gets too hot, you can always head to a public bathroom and put one pair in your handbag!

Layer, layer, layer when the seasons start to change. All those layers can become bulky so you want to find pieces that are lightweight but still keep you warm. Stocking up on cashmere is a great way to do this - you'll be amazed how extra-snuggly it keeps you. Cashmere can be expensive, so try websites like Brandalley or Secret Sales and keep an eye out in the Spring sales too, ready for next year. You can get some amazing deals.

Speaking of layers... have you grabbed yourself a coatigan yet? If not, please do! It's basically a dressing gown that's appropriate to wear outdoors. After a year of prioritising comfort over style, cardigans are on trend in a big way and they are the perfect pieces for unpredictable Spring weather. Joules, River Island and & Other Stories all have some beautiful options.
