Fold and cut

Fold the fabric in half, and half again. Line up your pattern along the folded edge of your fabric, add weights on top, and cut.

Cut the deeper neckline, at the front.

Pin and sew shoulder seams

For a structured finish, add tape or interface line to the shoulder seams. Pin in place and set up your machine for a zigzag stitch.

Start 1.5 inches from the end of the fabric and do a backstitch, then sew. Repeat this for the other shoulder.

Next, sew a wider zigzag stitch next to your narrow one, right on the seam allowance.

Trim your seam allowance when done.

Stitch the sleeve

Fold the edge of your sleeve in, towards the wrong side. Fold around the curve, pinning every two inches.

You can do a diagonal baste stitch as you pin along, this will also help preserve the elasticity of the fabric.

Place the folded edge of the seam so that it faces downward, line up the machine foot with the folded edge of the fabric, and sew. Use a pin to help you control the fabric so you don’t stretch it while sewing.

Take out your baste stitch and carefully trim the excess seam allowance.

Sew your neckline

For the neckline, fold it over about half an inch and pin. Then, sew it with a zigzag stitch.
