Cut the fabric

You need 4 pieces of fabric measuring 20cm x 15cm ( 7.8 x 5.9 inches). I suggest folding the fabric when you only have to cut this out once or twice. I am upcycling fabric from the sleeve area, so I only had to do this twice.

Duplicate the pattern

I am using an old face mask as a guide to duplicate and trace the pattern on the fabric pieces. Fold the mask in half, pin the sides, and place it on the fabric piece. Add seam allowance. Get the exact measurements in the image, as shown.

Pin and sew

You should now have 4 pieces of fabric. Put two fabrics together, right sides facing each other, and sew along the curved edge. Repeat the same steps on the other pair.

Assemble the mask

Once the curves are stitched, put two pieces right sides facing. Align both fabrics on the center line and start pinning all the way around.

Cut and insert an elastic band measuring approximately 14cm (5.5 inches). Then sew the edges. You should have 2 elastic bands, one for each side.

TIP-

If you don’t have an elastic band, you can cut strips from old clothes with stretch fabric. Also, you can use a ribbon or a hair tie.
