Make the pattern

With your chalk, draw a 6x 9 inch rectangle on your cotton fabric. Cut out the first rectangle and make another piece by following the first piece’s pattern.

Assemble the mask

Measure two 7-inch elastic pieces, cut them according to size, and pin them along either edge of one of your fabric pieces. Pin them from the wrong side, as shown.

Next, put your fabric pieces on top of each other- right side to the wrong side. The reason why the mask should be layered this way is that you will be able to differentiate between the front and back side of the mask. Pin all around and sew with a straight stitch. Leave a gap, too.

Turn the mask inside out through the gap. Then, fold the fabric where the opening is located, pin, and do a straight stitch to close the opening.

Create pleats

Now, make two pleats on both sides of your mask. This will help the mask curve and fit your face. So simply for the fabric on either edge ( twice) and pin in place. Make sure the pleats are lined up with the adjacent side. Next, sew over them, width ways with a straight stitch.
