Street Style: Sequin Pajamas With Stylish Fabrics

Pajamas ain't just for the bedroom anymore! Have you ever considered creating Pajamas that you can wear outside of the bedroom? We've witnessed this style the past few years and when I was given the opportunity to work with Stylish Fabrics (sponsored) I decided to make it happen.

I used the Carolyn Pajama pattern for this project. I added 3" to the pant length because Mori would be wearing these pants with heels but I ended up removing 2" of the length in the end. I had to conceal all the seams with bias tape since I was going for the see-through look with this set. Adding the bias tape also stopped any sequins that were in the seams from touching the skin.

This sequin fabric is not thick at all and my Husquvarna Designer Brilliance 80 went through the sequins with ease. You can remove the sequins from the seam area if you do not want to sew over them. This chevron pattern had the sequins stitched in pretty tight so if you have the time then go for it, I just sewed over them.

I chose this Silky Satin Chiffon. I had never worked with this type of fabric before and it was totally the wrong choice for the facing of the pajamas. This fabric is super slinky and shifts its shape with every movement. I had to use a woven interfacing to give it a little structure and it was still hard to maneuver. Keep this type of fabric in mind for draping.

This look will be featured in the May/June issue of Sewn magazine,

along with quick tutorial on how I created the clean interior for these pajamas.

Here's a sneak peek on that photo shoot.
