Wardrobe Tip: Elevated Spring Staples

A Styled State of Mind

If you’re looking to add or refresh your Spring style I invite you to consider Eyelet for Spring & Summer.

Did you know that Eyelet was originally created by the Czechs and later this cut out textile was popularized by the British in the Victorian era?

Today, it’s what I consider an elevated and simple way to change up and update your basic T-shirt or dress for Spring.

This choice is a great one to opt for especially if you struggle with florals which are so popular this time of year and then find yourself wanting a wardrobe refresh but don't know where to start.

Knowing what floral works best for you can be tricky and difficult, especially for us ladies over 40, as the wrong one can either age us or be too juvenile.

That's why eyelet is a beautiful yet subtle way to update your wardrobe and keep it relevant without dealing with a floral moment gone wrong! Although traditionally this fabrication speaks more to the Romantic Style Personality, I can see it lending itself to anyone’s style depending on the amount of detail.

For a subtle hint, opt for just eyelet detail like in this versatile dress from Old Navy. Throw a cardigan or jean jacket over it and the look is updated for Spring.

A classic white eyelet blouse or dress will give you a lot of longevity in terms of price per wear as you can add in a blazer and other accessories as the season's change.

On it's own, it makes a bold yet sophisticated statement. It comes in an array of colours and pieces and personally, it speaks to my personal style and I tend to add a piece every couple of years as they get a lot of use!
