Five Cute Ways to Style Overalls

Professional

This outfit is a lovely synthesis between playful and professional. I paired a tie-neck polka dot blouse with black overalls. The blouse is flowy, giving the outfit some shape on top and contrasts with the tailored fit of the overalls. I don’t usually mix patterns, but I decided a plaid mini purse would work nicely with this look, since the patterns of the shirt and the purse are the same color, and the plaid plays on the preppy, professional style. 

For footwear, I chose simple nude heels.

All black

On days you’re stuck choosing what to wear, an all-black look will never fail you. Keeping the color palette monochrome helps create a sophisticated, sleek look. To keep things interesting, I decided to wear a one-shoulder top underneath the overalls. To emphasize the asymmetry of the outfit, you might choose to wear one side of your overalls undone.

For the final touches, I added a cute black mini purse and pointed-toe black slippers with metal accents. 

Summer fun

My favorite way of styling overalls for summer is this floral, feminine look. I chose a milkmaid-style top with a square neckline and cute ruffle details to wear under a pair of light denim cutoff overalls. 

I love this wicker bag, and it pairs perfectly with this adorable outfit. I chose lace-up espadrille wedges to match the wicker and add cohesiveness to the look. 

Denim-on-denim

If you want to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, I recommend giving this denim-on-denim look a go. I paired my light denim cutoff overalls with a medium denim button-down blouse. To accessorize, I chose statement pearl hair clips, and a white mini purse to match. 

Staying consistent with the theme, I am wearing dark denim sandals for footwear. Having always been a fan of denim looks, I am so pleased with how this outfit turned out!

Simple and classic

This last look is probably the most common overalls styling choice, and for good reason. A basic t-shirt and overall combo will generally look good on anyone. The top I’m wearing is an adorable t-shirt from Alana Yazzie aka The Fancy Navajo. I decided to add a pop of color to the outfit with a scarf in my hair. 

And because this outfit is all about comfort and wearability, I chose plain white sneakers for footwear.
