Make Your Own Easy DIY Sandals

Tools and materials:

• Strap sandals
• E6000 or similar adhesive
• Skewer
• 1 package of gemstones
• Mask to protect against the glue fumes

Set up your workspace

The glue you need for this project is very strong, so make sure you are in a well-ventilated space, and that you have a mask to wear. It’s important to keep your mask on throughout the entire process so that you don’t get a headache from the smell of the glue!

Once you’ve put together all of your materials, spread the pack of gemstones out on a paper towel so that you can easily find the ones you need. 

Apply the glue

Begin by spreading a thin layer of the E6000 glue onto the sandal strap. Squeeze gently and use the nozzle of the glue tube to spread the glue evenly. Make sure to work in sections and only do one part of the strap at a time. Don’t cover the whole strap at once because the glue will dry quickly.

Lay the gemstones

Use your fingers to place the stones onto the glue. To adjust the position of a stone, use the pointed end of the skewer so that your fingers don’t get covered in glue. You can plan out a pattern, or you can stick the gemstones on randomly like I did.

Once you’ve covered the glue already on the strap, add more to continue laying the gemstones on the sandal.

Repeat this process until the sandal strap is completely covered.

If you’d like, you can put a dab of glue on the end of the skewer and wait until it is almost dry. Use this as a tool to pick up the gemstones and place them into the glue on the sandal strap. 

Wear with pride!

Once you’ve covered all of the straps, let the glue dry for 24 hours. After the 24 hours are up, the sandals are ready to wear! Slip them on and wait for the compliments to roll in!
