Want to upgrade your heels and make them standout? Give them a whole new look with this super quick and easy trick. All you need are a few scraps of fabric and a pair of heels to replicate this fun look. 👇

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Here are the few items you will need:

  • A pair of heels
  • Scrap fabric (needs to be a long piece)
  • Measuring tape
  • Silk pins (tiny silver pins) or a pen
  • Fabric scissors
  • Ruler
  • Cutting Mat or hard surface

STEP 1

Put one of the heels on. Take the tape measure and measure around your foot from underneath the heel. For me it was 10".

STEP 2

Measure around your ankle. Mine was about 8". Add this to the previous measurement. For me this was 18".

STEP 3

Take your fabric and fold it in half vertically so the fold is on the left or right side edge. Measure out your measurement from the previous step. For me this was 18" so with the fold it would be 36".

* It's very important to make sure your fabric is folded so you get one long continuous piece

STEP 4

Use silk pins (or a pen) to mark where to cut the fabric. My ruler is 2" wide so I just used the width of the ruler. If you have a regular ruler, I would measure 1.5-2" width for your piece. Cut along the line. Repeat for a second piece.

* If your fabric easily frays like this chiffon you can choose to sew the long edges together and turn inside out to make a tubular piece. Iron the piece flat before tying.

STEP 5

Take the piece of fabric, place it under the heel and pull upwards toward the back of your ankle as shown. Cross the fabric back behind your ankle.

STEP 6

After crossing the fabric in the back, bring it around to the front of your ankle and tie in a bow.

You can also tie a bow in the back by tying the opposite way. Bring the fabric to the front, cross, and bring around your ankle to the back instead.

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE COMPLETED:

Get creative with the kind of fabric you use. Chiffon, lace, crepe, lightweight knits and other lightweight fabrics work best because they are easier to tie.

It seems like the ribbon gets lost going behind the heel and wrapped around the ankle. What if you went over the instep first, cross, then wrapped around with the bow behind? Cute idea though.
