Here's how to create a No Sew Mini Wirch Hat:
STEP ONE
To begin the No Sew Witch Hat Headband, gather all supplies. The 4″ foam cones that I found at the craft store are the perfect size for the top of the headband. I love to experiment with my favorite craft supplies. Sometimes these tests are a huge craft fail, but a lot of the time they are wonderful successes. Dyeing cotton lace, trim, and twine with Unicorn SPiT Stain was one trial that was a WINNER!
.
STEP TWO
Cut a 24″ length of wide cotton lace, skinny cotton lace, and cotton twine. Place each trim into a small plastic zipper bag, along with a generous squirt of Unicorn SPiT Stain Phoenix Fire, Violet Vulture, and Lavish Lovebirds. Add a splash of water, seal the zipper bag, and squish the trims around in the water and Unicorn SPiT Satin until each one has been saturated.
STEP THREE
Place a section of aluminum foil out on your work surface and carefully lift out the trims, using another plastic zipper bag over your hand as a make-shift glove. Layout the lace and twine onto the foil to dry. The non-porous surface of the foil will prevent any of the Unicorn SPiT from seeping through and staining your work table.
STEP FOUR
Download, print, and cut out the WITCH HAT PATTERNS Attach the patterns to Black Kunin Classic Felt with straight pins, then cut out with scissors.
Apply a line of E6000 Fabri-Fuse Liquid Fabric Glue along the perimeter of the felt, then carefully roll the foam cone inside the felt. Hold the seam closed for several minutes until the glue grabs. Set aside to dry. Once dry, attach the brim to the hat and the hat to the headband with additional Fabri-Fuse. Set aside to dry propped inside a roll of paper towel.
STEP FIVE
The roll of paper towel holds the headband perfectly in place, so you can use both hands to apply the lace trim.
Attach the Lavish Lovebirds skinny lace trim around the cone of the witch's hat with Fabri-Fuse.
Pleat and fold the Violet Vulture wide lace trim around the brim of the hat, securing with additional Fabri-Fuse. Tie the Phoenix Fire cotton twine around the base of the hat and finish with a bow.
No Sew Witch Hat Headband with Fabri-Fuse
Mix and match the colors and trims to create a customized witch's hat for a Halloween costume or home decor. I love using E6000 Fabri-Fuse Liquid Fabric Glue for all of my no sew craft projects. It works wonderfully with felt but also adheres to a multitude of fabrics, wood, metal, glass, rubber, and more. It goes on milky white and dries clear. Fabri-Fuse has a fast grab and sets up in about 30 minutes with full drying time in 24 hours. It is washable once dry and retains some elasticity which makes it perfect for Halloween costumes like my Witch Hat Headband.
