How to Easily Make a Cute T-Shirt Yarn Headband By Knotting
In this tutorial, I'll show you how to make a t-shirt yarn headband.
Hair accessories are a great way to mix up and complement any outfit, but sometimes it can be hard to find the right color or pattern that you want, unlike, for example, a t-shirt.
Today, I’m going to show you how to make a headband out of a t-shirt, so you can start building a hair accessory collection that matches all of your outfits. Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:
- Basic headband
- E6000 glue
- Old t-shirt
1. Cut up your t-shirt
Starting from the bottom, cut your t-shirt into three 1-inch strips.
2. Remove the seam
Each strip will be connected into a loop by a seam on either side. Cut them off on both sides so that each strip is now separated into two strips.
You should now have six strips.
3. Create the knots
Now, take your plastic headband and place one of your strips on the plastic, and wrap it around once.
Then, create a simple ribbon-like loop and place the end of the loop next to where the first part of the strip is.
Finally, pull the tail of the strip through the hole in the loop and then tighten it completely.
Once tightened, the strip will scrunch up and form a visible knotted look.
4. Repeat
Now, repeat step three, but this time you should start by creating the loop and finishing the knot on the opposite side of the headband.
If you started on the right for the previous knot, you should now begin on the left.
Repeat this process until you run out of room on your strip. Your final knot should always be on the opposite side you started on.
5. Add more strips
To add a new strip, place the tail of the previous strip flat against the top of the headband. Then, place the new strip on top of it and create the loop as you did in step three.
Continue knotting and adding strips as needed until you get close to the end of the headband.
6. Glue fabric to the ends
To complete the ends, start by adding glue to the end of each side of the headband.
Using the rest of your strips, cut a few small strips. Wrap one vertically around the end.
Then, wrap another one horizontally around the end.
Seal the pieces of fabric with E6000 glue.
