How to Wear a Silk Scarf to Elevate Any Outfit
In this tutorial, I will show you three ways to wear a silk scarf with an elastic hairband.
Many people aren’t aware of the different ways that they can style a silk scarf and therefore find themselves sticking to one or two simple styles. Here, I’m going to show you some new techniques and styles to broaden your horizons.
Tools and materials:
- Silk square scarf
- Elastic hairband
For this tutorial, I will be using a scarf that is 31x31 inches (79x79cm)
Draped rose silk scarf
1. Fold and roll the scarf
Fold the scarf to make a rectangle. Make a rose on one side by rolling it in, going from the closed side of the scarf to the open side. The secret to getting this right is to roll it very loosely.
2. Tie it up
When you’ve finished rolling, hold the rose together and tie a hairband around it.
3. Put around neck
Open up the rest of your scarf. Place it over your back and around your neck and pass one end through the hairband.
4. Create more petals
You can leave it as it is or form a few more petals.
To do this, pass the end through the hairband more, then wrap it all around the flower to create an additional layer of petals. Tuck it back through the hairband at the end.
Isn’t it lovely?
Draped flower silk scarf
1. Fold the scarf
For the next style, make a triangle fold. Take the part of your triangle that is shown and fold it as an accordion.
2. Tie with a scrunchie
Then, tie that part with a scrunchie, but not too tight.
3. Put around neck
Put the scarf around your neck and pass the other end through the hairband.
4. Wrap around the flower
Take the long side and wrap it around the flower, then fix the end under the scrunchie.
I have a beautiful flower on the front with two small leaves coming down. This would be perfect to wear for a garden party.
Rose twist silk scarf
1. Fold the scarf
Fold the scarf into a triangle and make a rose (using the same technique as the first style). It shouldn’t be too tight.
2. Tie with a scrunchie
You can leave a little leaf on the side of the rose. Fix it with a scrunchie
3. Wrap and tie the scarf
Now wrap the scarf around your neck and put the other end through the hairband. Then wrap it again around the rose.
To style the scarf, open up some of the petals. I love the way the scarf is wrapped due to the folding we did at the beginning. The rose at the front looks charming and elegant.
