Tools and materials:
- Hair scarf
- Hair ties
- Bobby pins
1. Two braids
1. Braid your hair
Braid your hair into two braids that are braided against the scalp.
2. Tie a scarf into a bow
Tie the scarf into a bow. Adjust it to your liking by tugging on the edges to make it tighter or fan it out so it’s fuller.
You can wear it on the top or side of your head. Braids are my go-to hairstyle lately because it’s so hot, so the scarf gives a nice touch to such a simple hairstyle.
2. Scarf headband with waves
1. Braid your hair overnight (optional)
I wore my hair in braids overnight so I could have heatless waves when I woke up in the morning, which are perfect for this next hairstyle.
When you take out your hair, it’s best to do it while it’s damp.
2. Section the front of your hair
Section off the front pieces of your hair and tie up the rest in the back.
3. Tie the scarf
Tie the scarf around your head so that the knot is at the base of your neck. Double knot it so it’s secure. Then, take down the rest of your hair.
This cute scarf hairstyle looks great with curly or wavy hair.
3. Scarf tie with a ponytail
1. Tie hair in a ponytail
Put your hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a hair tie.
2. Tie the scarf around your ponytail
Take the scarf and wrap it around your ponytail. Make a knot.
Flip your hair over and make a second knot on the bottom.
This one is pretty easy and simple, which is why I love it. I adore any hairstyle that will get my hair up and out of my face, especially in the summertime, so I appreciate a cute high ponytail that’s effortless but still looks like I put in the effort.
4. Braided scarf
1. Section hair
To start off, section three pieces of hair.
2. Place the scarf
Place the scarf on your head, making sure that both sides are an even length.
3. Braid
Start braiding as if it’s a normal braid and the scarf is a part of the section of hair. Tie off the hair with a hair tie at the end.
Take the end of the scarf and wrap it around the hair tie.
4. Frame the face and pin in place
Pull out some face-framing pieces. Use a bobby pin to secure the sides of your hair.
It took me a couple of tries to get right but I think the end result is worth it.
5. Scarf with a bun
1. Twist hair
Start with your hair parted to the side. Take two sections of hair in the front and twist them. Take another section of hair and add it to one of the two in your hand and twist. Repeat this until you get to the back.
Pin in place with a bobby pin. Repeat on the other side.
2. Twist the rest of your hair into a bun
Gather all of your hair into a ponytail. Twist it around itself to make a small bun. Secure first with a hair tie.
3. Fold scarf
Next, take a scarf and fold it in half diagonally. Fold it in half again.
4. Tie the scarf around the bun
Start by placing the folded scarf over your bun.
Twist one side of the scarf underneath and around the bun. Repeat with the other side of the scarf but in the opposite direction. Tie at the bottom.
I really like this look because I have a lot of layers in my hair, so having the scarf wrapped around it keeps everything inside.
6. Tied at the side
1. Section and tie off hair
Section off one side in the front. Tie up the rest of your hair with a hair tie.
2. Tie the scarf
Tie the scarf on the side. Take out the rest of your hair.
I love how it’s tied off to the side, which I think really shows off the scarf.
7. Bun with a bow
1. Tie up your hair
Gather hair into a ponytail at the top of your head and secure it with a hair tie.
2. Twist hair into a bun
Twist your hair into a bun and secure it with a hair tie.
3. Tie scarf
Wrap your scarf around your bun and tie it into a bow. Adjust until it’s perfect. Tug on the ends to tighten and fan out the edges of the bow. Tuck the ends underneath.
I slid the bow off to the side as I thought it’d look better. The oversized bow is super cute with this bun.
