One of my guilty pleasures is curling up on the couch and watching an old black and white film from the 1940s.

If you’re an admirer of historical fashion trends, follow along with this quick tutorial to learn how to create a few vintage head scarf styles. They are easy to create and give Hollywood scarf vibes.

For all 3 looks, pull your hair into a bun or ponytail that sits at the back of your head. I’m using a double sided Pashmina scarf.

1. Line it up

Align your scarf to cover your bun or ponytail.

2. Knot your scarf

Then tie a double knot at your forehead.

3. Spread it

Then, spread the fabric of the knot, like this:

Tuck the ends in the back to hide them and here’s the final look:

1. Fold the scarf

2. Place the scarf

Next, place the loop at the end of the fold so that it sits on your head like this:

3. Make a second loop

Pull the long end around the back of your head.

Bring this end to the front and make another loop.

5. Make the top of the turban

Take the free end of the scarf and spread it over your head, behind the loop in the front.

Then tuck in the ends into the perimeter of the turban.
