Did you know that you can turn any scarf into a great summer top?

Follow along, and I’ll show how easily it’s done, with no sewing required!

Tools and materials:

  • 100-centimeter (39.37-inch) square scarf
  • Coordinating ribbon or strap fabric
Folding scarf

1. Fold and tie your scarf

Fold your scarf into a triangle, with the right side facing out.

Tying scarf

Tie the ends of the scarf together in a knot.

Positioning scarf

2. Position your scarf

Put your scarf on over your head, with the knot at the back of your neck.

Making straps

3. Make the straps

Use a long piece of coordinating ribbon or fabric.

Put it around your back and under both sides of your scarf, so the ends meet at your center-front.

Making straps

Pull on the straps so they catch the sides of your scarf and pull the scarf into place over your chest.

Making straps

Wrap the straps around to your back and tie the ends together.

Finishing DIY scarf top

4. Finish the scarf top

You have two layers of scarf fabric.

Finishing DIY scarf top

Bring the bottom layer up, under the center of the scarf, and the top layer up over the scarf.

Finishing DIY scarf top

Tie the two end points together at the front-center of the scarf top.
