An Easy Trick to Add Volume to Your Ponytail

If you're anything like me, a classic ponytail sometimes needs a boost of volume. Instead of buying a new tool or device, I've got a super simple way to give a lift to your favourite hairstyle.

To start off, this is what my ponytail looks like prior to the trick. I have pretty fine hair and this style lacks volume for me.

Start by gathering your hair to the location where you would like to secure the ponytail as usual. Then, wrap the elastic twice around the entire ponytail. Here's a link to my favourite go-to elastics.

Use your thumb to divide your hair in half, separating the top portion from the bottom portion. Make the divide horizontally and keep the tension of the rest of your hair held with the elastic.

Now pull the top section through the elastic creating the third wrap of the elastic around your hair. Do not pull the bottom section through.

To show you a different perspective, here is the top section after pulling through the elastic.

Now tighen and adjust your elastic as normal. For the top section, fan it out by tugging on the outer edges to fan them over the rest of your ponytail.

Here is the upgraded and voluminous ponytail after finishing off! You can see the major difference it makes in the perkiness of my ponytail compared to the first image!
