How to Make a Fabulous Ariana Grande Halloween Costume

In this sewing tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make an Ariana Grande Halloween costume, inspired by her big poofy tulle dress. If you’re an Ariana fan, get your sewing machine out, grab some tulle and let’s make this Grande-inspired dress.
Tools and materials:
- Black mini dress
- Off-white tulle
- Ruler
- Sewing machine
- Pins
1. Cut the tulle fabric
Cut a rectangle out of the tulle fabric measuring 30cm (12 inches) in width.
2. Sew down the middle
Then sew along the center line of the rectangle lengthways. Sew a straight, long stitch length with a black thread, leaving the thread open on the ends.
3. Gather the fabric
Pull from the ends to gather the fabric. Push gently as you pull so that the material is even all the way around.
4. Make five more
Repeat the process so that you have six of these.
5. Pin to dress
Pin the first one to the bust line. Ensure to pin all around the dress.
6. Sew onto the dress
Proceed to sew the tulle onto the dress, sewing on the center line once again.
7. Repeat with the second piece
Pull the tulle upwards, and then pin the second piece 1cm (0.4 inches) below the first one. Then sew that down.
8. Repeat with the rest of the pieces
Once again, pull the tulle upwards, and then pin and sew the third piece 1cm (0.4 inches) below the second one. Repeat this process for all of the pieces of tulle.

Here is the finished DIY Ariana Grande dress, perfect for wearing on Halloween. Just look at how wonderfully poofy it is!
I love how voluminous all of the tulle looks, this dress really makes a statement. I’ve only added tulle on the top part of the dress, but I think that this would also look really cute if you sewed tulle all the way down the dress, or even did it on a maxi dress as well.
I hope you’re as enchanted by this dress as I am. If you give this dress a try, let me know in the comments!
