Avocado Sugar Scrub DIY – Rich In Vitamin E

I made this avocado sugar scrub while fixing myself an avocado toast sandwich this morning.

As I cut the avocado into two and spooned out one half onto my toast, I thought it was too much in between two slices of bread.

So instead, I used one-fourth on my toast and thought, hmm… How about a DIY avocado sugar scrub?

Then I went to work, mashing, mixing, and adding more sugar until I got the consistency I like.

That’s how I came about the avocado sugar scrub, and I’m going to show you how to make it today.

True story… LOL
How To Make Avocado Sugar Scrub

You only need two ingredients to make this moisturizing avocado sugar scrub, but you can add extra olive or coconut oil.

But Summer is almost here, and we don’t want too much oil on our skin because your skin would be producing lots of it as the weather gets warm.

So two or three ingredients

  • 1/4 or 1/2 avocado
  • 1/2 or 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 or 1/2 cup olive oil (optional)

Other things

  • A medium mason jar with a lid
  • A fork

Directions

  • Add the avocado to a small or medium mason jar, then mash it with a fork.
  • I prefer to mash the avocado in the jar because it is easier and blends better with the sugar.
  • Next, pour your sugar into the jar and keep mixing with the fork until everything is well blended.
  • Your avocado sugar scrub is ready for use. Store in the fridge and use within 2 to 3 days.

How to use the avocado sugar scrub

  • Before you get in the shower, make sure your scrub is in the bathroom.
  • As usual, wash your skin first before applying exfoliants, whether homemade or drugstore.
  • Then dab the water on your skin but leave it a bit damp before applying the avocado scrub all over your body.
  • This scrub contains rich moisturizing oil from avocado and the exfoliating benefits of sugar. What this means is that you’re exfoliating and moisturizing your skin at the same time. Win-win.
  • After scrubbing your whole body, let it sit for several minutes before rinsing off under the shower.
  • Then dry your body and apply a very light moisturizer afterward.
  • Your skin would feel supple and soft, and you’d be ready to rock your shorts and mini dresses this Summer.

Benefits of avocado to the skin

  • Avocado contains biotin, so it soothes dry skin when applied topically.
  • It also reduces breakouts because of its anti-microbial properties.
  • It contains vitamin E, known to protect your skin from sun rays, etc.
  • Using avocado on the skin enhances its elasticity.

A few things to know about this DIY avocado scrub recipe

I made this avocado sugar scrub recipe with Summer in mind. That’s why I didn’t add extra oil.

But during Fall/Winter, your skin needs more moisturizing because of the dry air. Then you can add oil.

And olive oil works best with avocado.

Make sure you use this DIY avocado scrub within a few days of preparation because fruit scrubs get contaminated quickly.

Except for lime scrubs or this lemon hand scrub. These can last for weeks as long as they’re not exposed to air.

Conclusion

Boom! That’s how to make your own avocado sugar scrub to treat your skin this Summer.

So instead of using half an avocado on your toast, use a quarter and the other for your scrub.

The other half avocado would be split between my next toast and maybe a salad.
