6 Amazing Beauty Hacks With Turmeric You Can Try Out at Home
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you some beauty hacks with turmeric for glowing, beautiful skin and whiter teeth!
Turmeric beauty benefits are numerous, ranging from healing acne and fading hyperpigmentation to brightening skin, reducing dark circles, preventing premature aging, and protecting against environmental irritants.
Let’s get started with these six different turmeric beauty uses to better skin.
Disclaimer: When applied to the skin, turmeric can sometimes cause temporary staining, so please proceed with caution! You may wish to use slightly less turmeric than the recipe recommends.
Tools and materials:
- Sugar
- Turmeric powder
- Jojoba (or other) oil
- Castile soap or baby wash
- Aloe vera gel
- Face oil
- Coconut oil
- Clove powder (optional)
- Chickpea flour
- Rice or oats flour
- Amla or licorice powder
- Yogurt or water
- Raw honey
- Bowl
- Jar
- Spoon
Note: Do not use kitchen turmeric, as it will stain your skin. It's best to use wild turmeric (kasturi manjal) or white turmeric, which can be found on Amazon or in any Indian store.
1. Turmeric body scrub
Blend sugar for 2-3 seconds until it has a sand-like texture. Add 4 tbsp of the fine sugar to a bowl.
Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder to the bowl.
Add 4 tbsp of jojoba oil, or any other carrier oil you prefer.
Mix.
Use on wet skin in the shower to remove dead cells and polish the skin. Store in a cool dry place for up to a month.
2. Turmeric body wash
Pour ½ cup of Castile soap or baby wash into a jar.
Add ¼ cup of aloe vera gel.
Add 2 tsp of any face oil (jojoba oil, black seed oil, grapeseed oil, or any noncomedogenic oil that suits your skin type).
Add ½ tsp of turmeric powder.
Mix.
Massage onto wet skin, then rinse off. Store in a cool dry place for up to a month.
3. Turmeric toothpaste
Add 2 tbsp of coconut oil to a bowl.
Add 1 tsp turmeric powder.
Mix.
Optional: Add a dash of clove powder.
Brush your teeth with the turmeric toothpaste and let it sit for a minute. Follow up with your regular toothpaste. Store in a cool dry place for up to a month.
4. Turmeric ubtan (Indian home remedy for skin)
Add ¼ cup of chickpea flour to a bowl.
Add 2 tbsp of rice flour or oat flour.
Add 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
Add 1 tsp of amla or licorice powder.
Mix the dry ingredients.
To use, mix the powder with yogurt or water. You can use it as a face mask, body mask, or as a natural face and body cleanser. Store in a cool dry place for up to 3 months.
5. Turmeric gel
Add 2 tbsp of aloe vera gel to a bowl.
Add 1 tsp of any face oil.
Add ½ tsp of turmeric powder.
Mix.
To use, massage on the face, neck, and body. Leave it on for 20 minutes before bathing. Store in the fridge for up to a month.
6. Turmeric mask
Add 1 tbsp of raw honey to a bowl.
Add ¼ tsp of turmeric.
Apply on your face, leave it for 20 minutes, then rinse off. Store in a cool dry place for up to a month.
