How to Choose & Apply the Best Blush for Mature Skin
Is there one moment in your makeup routine when your whole face seems to come to life? For me, it’s when my blusher goes on. This tutorial will help you find the best blush for mature skin and help you learn the best way to apply it. Let's get started.
Tools and materials:
- Combination cream/powder blush
- Blush brush
I'm using makeup from Look Fabulous Forever, which is specially designed for older skin, but you can replicate the same techniques with your own preferred products.
1. Find your optimal blush spot
Draw an imaginary line down from the middle of your eye to your cheekbone. From that point, you will want to create a teardrop shape back and up along your cheekbone to lift your face.
2. Choose your blush
A blush with a cream/powder formulation will give you the easiest and best application.
If your skin is cool-toned, then use a rosy glow blush. A peach cream blush will work better for warm-toned skin. If you aren’t sure what your skin tone is, opt for a peach cream blush because the pinky tone works for all skin tones.
3. Apply your blush
Start by patting on the blush with your fingertip at that start point you found in Step 1.
Now start building the color, moving in the teardrop shape up to your hairline. Then continue using your fingertip to lightly blend the blush.
Now, take a makeup brush and use small circular swirling motions to keep blending the blush.
Here’s a close-up look at the final blush application. You can see the uplifting teardrop shape.

That teardrop shape for the blush application gives such a healthy glow to your face!
These are really simple blush application tips but they do make quite a difference in lifting and brightening your face, especially if you have mature skin.
