The Cutest Way to Wear Your Country's Flag!
I made this DIY off-shoulder top in the colors of my country’s flag. You could use any three colors you like.
The bows represent the stars on the flag, so adapt those to your style.

Tools and materials:
- 3 short sleeved t-shirts
- Shirring elastic
- Bow trims (optional)
- Fabric glue (optional)
- Measuring tape
- Scissors or rotary cutter
- Pins
- Sewing machine
1. T-shirts
Make sure to get t-shirts at least one size larger than you usually wear, to account for the shirring.
I got one each in yellow, red and blue in size XL.
2. Cut the panels
I cut 6 inch (15 cm) deep panels from the blue and red t-shirts.
The yellow one I cut straight across just below the armholes.
3. Join the panels
Pin the panels together with the right sides facing.
I sewed them with a simple straight stitch. This is how the top looks at this stage.
4. Shirring
Replace your bobbin thread with shirring elastic.
With the right side uppermost, sew across the panels in straight rows with a long stitch.
I shirred the two lower panels only.
5. Neckline and sleeves
I cut off the original t-shirt neckline and opened it up so I could wear it off the shoulder.
I resized the sleeves to make them narrower and added a few rows of shirring to the lower edge.
6. Finishing
I glued on these mini bows.

Such a cute and flattering way to represent your country’s flag! It’s easy to adapt to any color scheme.
