I have a Linen Skirt that has not been worn since Pre-Pandemic Days...it patiently hangs in the closet...rarely seeing the light of day.

It is Time to Breathe New Life into this Fashion Staple with a Quick Transformation from Work Skirt to Flippy Swing Top...

In under 30 Minutes!

Ready - Let's Go!

The skirt has an elastic waist. The WAISTBAND will be the basis for the Transformation, becoming the NECKLINE of the Swing Top.

If you don't have an A-Line Elastic Waist Skirt...Try this Amazon LINK.

The skirt has 4 panels...2 panels will be the front of the Swing Top and 2 panels will be the back of the Swing Top.

HOW TO TRANSFORM AN ELASTIC WAIST SKIRT TO A SWING TOP:

1. Measure 3/4 down from the elastic waist to the hem of skirt...CUT off the bottom 1/4 section of the skirt.

This CUT PIECE - the Bottom of the Skirt - will become the SLEEVES of the Swing Top.

2.CUT the SIDES of the Skirt...STOP CUTTING about 3 inches from the elastic waistband...soon to be neckline of the Swing Top.

The SIDE CUTS STOP Here...3 inches below the elastic band.

3. Open up the cut skirt to reveal the oval off-the-shoulder neckline and front and back of the Swing Top. Note the Side Cuts Stop about 3 inches below the elastic.

4. The SLEEVES. The Flirty, Flippy Fun Part!

5.CUT the bottom piece of the skirt into 2 equal pieces. These will be the SLEEVES of the Swing Top. The finished Skirt Hem will also be the finished Sleeve Hem.

6.CONSTRUCT the SLEEVES to the Swing Top. With Right Sides Together, match up the shoulder seam to the center of the sleeve.

7.PIN in place. SEW half of the sleeve piece to the FRONT of the Swing Top.

The bottom of the Sleeve will be sewn to the Back of the Swing Top.

8.SEW one continuous seam connecting the Sleeve to the Front of the Swing Top.

9.CUT OFF any extra Sleeve fabric...

Here is the constructed Swing Top with Sewn Side Seams...The Front...

And the Back.

10.HEM of the Swing Top. Sew a simple roll hem at the bottom of the Swing Top - A Cute, Neat and Tidy Hem.

DONE!

Billowy and Fun to Wear...

And So Sew-Simple!
