Refashion With Patches & Freehand Stitching

What do you do with fab fitting but terribly boring garments?

Give them a quick and easy refashion with patches and freehand stitching!

Grab my simple method for attaching non-iron-on patches and appliques below!

I scored that cozy velvet sweatshirt at a local clothing swap and it definitely needed a bit of livening up!

Fortunately I had a fab floral patch in my stash, unfortunately it was missing the convenient iron-on backing.

First I pinned it in place.

Then I freehand stitched all over it with coordinating red and green thread to secure in place and give it a funky doodled on look!

From boring to brilliant in no time flat!

I had been painstakingly hand stitching this beautiful sakura applique on to a thrifted evening dress for ages before I finally realized that not only would my freehand doodle stitching be loads faster but it would also have an awesomely unique result!

Take a peek at just how easy it is to embellish with freehand stitching in my very oldie but goodie doodle stitching video from 2013.

This was one of the very first videos I created for my channel – thankfully my producing, filming and editing skills have massively improved since then:

Reusing what you already have in your closet, shopping preloved and refashioning are a marvelous start to a wardrobe full of truly sustainable fashion that reflects your own unique style!
