Halloween Bride of Frankenstein Makeup Tutorial
Today, we're going to do a Bride of Frankenstein makeup tutorial. This DIY Bride of Frankenstein makeup look is easier than it looks and it’s a quick way to get a seriously spooky Halloween look with makeup you already have in your collection! Let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Witch hazel
- Elmer’s glue
- Pros-aide adhesive
- Bald cap vinyl
- Acetone
- Foundation
- Translucent powder
- Gel liner
- Mixing medium
- Eyeshadow
- White pencil eyeliner
- False lashes
- Mascara
- Lipstick
- Lip liner
- Face paint
1. Clean your brows
Run witch hazel over your eyebrows to remove any oils from your skin to prepare to wax down the brows.
2. Flatten your eyebrows with glue
Use a small brush to run Elmer’s glue through the brows. I’m using a dental brush because it’s super tiny and coats every hair.
3. Clean up your brows
Use witch hazel to remove any of Elmer’s glue.
4. Apply adhesive
Once the skin is completely dry, use a Pros-aide adhesive around the circumference of your eyebrows. This is where the vinyl bald cap is going to stick to.
5. Apply the vinyl over your eyebrows
Apply a bit of the vinyl from the end of a bald cap over your eyebrows.
This is to give you a smooth finish, so you won’t have to paint over the texture of your hair. As you’re applying, use both hands to stretch the vinyl over your eyebrow.
6. Remove the excess vinyl
Apply acetone in a rolling motion against the skin to remove the excess and get a seamless finish. Always roll towards the prosthetic so you’re flattening it against the skin.
7. Apply a light shade of foundation
Let’s move on to Frankenstein’s bride makeup.
Apply foundation to your skin, making sure it’s a shade that’s alabaster or lighter. Bounce it over your skin, over the eyebrows, and down your neck in a couple of layers and set in between. You want to be very fair, but not clown white.
8. Set your foundation
Use a flesh-colored powder to bring down the white and make it more of a believable, very fair skin tone.
Apply extra powder over the brows.
9. Draw on the eyebrows
Mix black gel liner with a mixing medium so you get a slightly more fluid liner.
The Bride of Frankenstein's eyebrows dip down slightly at the front, and they lift as they get toward the outer third of your eye. The tail of the brow also lifts with a bit of a flick.
10. Shade the nose
Use any matte black eyeshadow to change up the nose.
She has a dip on the bridge of her nose in the center and a bulbous tip, so round it off so it’s wider and slightly shorter at the front. Then add some shading to either side of the nose.
11. Shade the lips
Shade so it’s slightly rounder underneath the bottom lip and chubbier around the mouth area.
12. Block out the lips
Use the same color that’s on the face to block out the size of the lips.
13. Create a defined socket
The Bride of Frankenstein has a very defined socket, so use a matte black and brown eyeshadow and blend it throughout the socket.
Use a smaller brush to create a precise socket line.
14. Apply black liner
Apply black gel liner across the lid and round it out so it’s slightly thicker on the center of the eyelid.
15. Blend the eyeshadow
I reapplied the brown eyeshadow in the socket and then used my blending brush to bring it to the edges to create a subtle shadow.
16. Line the lower lash line
17. Apply white eyeliner to waterline
18. Apply false lashes
19. Apply mascara
She wears very clumpy mascara, so go in with a couple of layers to darken the white and give drama to your natural lashes.
Apply a coat to your lower eyelashes as well.
20. Contour the face
Apply the same color you used in the socket to contour around the forehead and the hollows of the cheeks.
Add a little contour on the chin as she does have a cleft.
21. Apply lipstick
Apply a plum color to the lips in a rosebud pout, without filling to your natural lip line.
22. Apply lip liner
Use a lip liner to darken the edges and emphasize the poutiness.
23. Draw on the stitches
Use red face paint to draw on the scars so they start at your eyebrow and follow the curve of your cheekbones.
Use a fine-tip eyeliner to draw on the stitches, alternating between lines and crosses.
Use black paint to add dots on either side of the stitch marks so it looks as if they sink into the skin.
24. Add detail to the stitches
Water down the paint and use it to add depth to the inside of the red scars.
Then use the same color from your socket to paint around each of the red scars.
Blend it out, but make sure to leave a gap so you have a false highlight.
Use a fine liner brush to add slight shading around the stitch line as well.
