Today, I want to show you how you can make your own costume for less. Pre-made costumes usually cost around $60, but by heading to the thrift store, you can save yourself a lot of money.

This last-minute Bridgerton Halloween costume isn’t going to involve any DIY-ing, we’re just going to pick up some pieces second-hand. You might even have some of these pieces in your closet already. So, without further ado, let’s get started on this thrifted Halloween costume.

Tools and materials:

  • Thrifted dress
  • Long sleeve gloves
  • Necklaces

1. Hit the thrift store

If you're looking for a Bridgerton costume, there are a ton of dresses at the thrift store that would totally work for this. Specifically, I think you want to look for something that has sleeves, and you probably want it to be floor-length.

2. Hunt for jewelry

To accessorize your Bridgerton costume, you could buy a crown, but I’m going to go to the jewelry section instead.

I’m looking for something to make a crown piece from, and also a Bridgerton-style necklace, maybe something big and bold, perhaps with pearls.

Necklace for crown piece

So, this is the necklace that I picked up to make my crown piece.

3. Add crown to Bridgerton costume

I'm simply going to flip it upside down to transform it into a crown and tie the chain around the back of my bun. Then, I secure the crown piece with bobby pins.

4. Put on your Bridgerton dress

So, here's the dress that I went with. I think it works perfectly as a Bridgerton costume but, as you can see, it's quite big on me.

To fix this, I’m simply taking a strapless bra and tucking all of this excess fabric under it. This is not only going to give me that baby doll kind of shape that all of the dresses on Bridgerton seem to have, but it's also going to allow this to fit my shape better.

It might take a little bit of caressing to get the back of the dress to look right.

5. Accessorize

Then, I added some long gold gloves to the look and some jewelry and the Bridgerton costume was complete!
