How to Do Cute Red & White Candy Cane Christmas Nails for the Holidays

Tools and materials:

• Red nail polish
• White nail polish
• Striping brush
• Glitter nail polish
• Clear nail polish

1. Paint nails red

Start off the design by painting your nails red. Then, make sure to wait until they’re completely dry before continuing with the next step.

2. Paint the white lines

Next, you’re going to use a striping brush dipped into some white nail polish to start creating little diagonal lines on your nails. Of course, the finer your striping brush, the thinner you’ll be able to draw your lines.

The lines don’t have to be extremely precise. I know that some people like to make candy canes with straight lines and they can look very pretty. But, I think it looks better when you wiggle your brush a little when you paint those lines.

Here, I’ve done the nail on the left with more wiggly lines and the nail on the right with straighter lines so that you can see the contrast. Also, In my opinion, the design looks much better when you alternate the thickness of the lines and don’t make them all uniform.

3. Add some glitter (optional)

The next step is to add some glitter nail polish with your striping brush. This step is optional, but I think that it makes everything look so much better, and I absolutely love it. 

You can choose to put the glitter just on one stripe or on all of the stripes. You could do this as an accent nail, or you could do it on all of your nails. It’s really up to you!

4. Paint a clear coat

Finish off with a coat of clear nail polish.
