How to Look Cute When It's Cold in Spring

Spring is a difficult time of year when it comes to styling outfits. We want to get our pastel shoes and floral dresses out, but some days, it feels like we've gone right back to Winter!

Jeans and a tee are a timeless, chic option for the transitional period. Wearing a belt adds interest and breaks up the look. Switch out the boots for a daintier shoe, such as a pair of ballet flats, and you've instantly made the outfit more feminine and seasonal.

I also like to switch up my colour palette in Spring, keeping darker colours for the cold months. That way, even if you're bundled up against the harsh weather, you still look like you're dressing for the current season.

Coats can be tricky because they have to battle all weathers so we often buy them in darker colours to avoid marks showing, but try to keep a couple of light-coloured outerwear pieces in your wardrobe so that you don't look too wintery (even if the wind and rain feels it...)

Trench coats are a great option. I rarely talk about transitional fashion without bringing up trench coats! They are the ultimate Spring coat. I like to wear mine open and just tie the belt, so that I'm warm but you can still see a sneak peek of my outfit underneath.

One of my favourite Spring outfit combos is a pair of culottes with a soft knit. It literally feels like wearing pyjamas but you still look stylish!

At this time of year, it's often too cold to switch to skirts and dresses just yet but not everyone wants to wear jeans all the time. Culottes or wide-legged trousers are a great alternative. They somehow look smart and relaxed at the same time and they're so comfortable. Cropped culottes are also great if you're short because for once, they don't drag on the ground!

Pink and white is a fabulous colour combo for Spring too. I love the pearl details on this jumper - a timeless trend.

A dark floral dress and opaque tights is a really easy transitional outfit. I always get compliments when I wear a floral dress but it's actually quite an effortless look! I find it much harder to style jeans or leggings, because you have to find something to pair with them. With a dress, all I need to worry about is accessories.

I've got my very stylish wellies on in this picture, but an ankle boot would work too ;)
