2 Ways to Style a $5 Maxi Skirt
I love maxi skirts! They are so easy to style into other outfits. It's always great to get 2 outfits in one.
Bonus fashion points when you find a maxi that has a vibrant floral print. As summer is winding down, I am holding on to it a little while longer.
This beauty was at my local Goodwill for only $5! You could see the beautiful flowers from across the store. The only negative is I usually prefer them to have an elastic waistband which is usually necessary to style it as a strapless dress, but this one was a little big in the waist so it fit okay, it was just a little snug as a dress.
I did find the exact skirt on Walmart.com if you are interested in buying your own. $17 is still a great price for such a cute skirt. Seeing where the hem should be reminds me how short I am lol.
To do the strapless look, just pull the maxi above your chest, then all you have to do is belt it and even out the gathers. What could be easier to transform?
Adding a hat always brings the glam, but this skirt could stand alone since it's so vibrant. Pairing it with a sleeveless turtleneck helps to elongate my torso which I always need lol.
Pairing the dress with a red stripe hat makes all the red in the skirt pop!
Here is a workaround if the waist does not zip completely when above the chest. Make sure before doing this that you triple-check that the zipper locks and stays up, walk around it for a while, you don't want to have a wardrobe malfunction.
Drape a coordinating ribbon around your neck and secure the ends of it to the 2 sides with brooches or floral pins.
I bought these on clearance at Hobby Lobby they have a pin and a clip that give extra reinforcement.
Not ideal, but will work if you are small-busted. If not, I don't recommend wearing a zipper maxi this way.
I will certainly miss these fun summer prints but I am looking forward to fall, I have some fun projects lined up, I can't wait to share them!

Again Eden, beautifully executed. The skirt and red top are fabulous and the strapless one reminds me of a black and white striped circle wrap skirt that I made for going out when I was younger that I wore like yours and tied the straps in a bow in the front over my bust👍️.
