How to Choose Prints for Your Body
Prints can be tricky! They can age you, add volume where there is none or create a shape you’re probably not looking to create. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 they can also elevate your look, add elegance and definitely express your style!!
So how do you end up with option B? When choosing prints you want to consider your height and your frame so that you are wearing the print and not the other way around!
To get you started, here are 2 important things to consider when choosing the right print for you!
1.Look at the Density
2.Look at the Scale
Density refers to how much 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚 is in between each element, for example how much space is in between the flowers, versus how much of the base shows through.
The dress on the right is a high density print which makes it difficult for the eye to land on any one spot so there’s no focal point. This is a great option if you’re not feeling confident about a certain part of your body or feeling bloated that day!
Here's another example of a high density print.
Moving onto scale. The scale of the print refers to the 𝙨𝙞𝙯𝙚 of each element.
To choose the most appropriate scale, match the scale to the scale of your body features. For example if you are petite with petite features, opt for smaller scaled prints like the dress on the left that harmonize with your overall scale. Huge flowers may overpower you.
You can see the difference in scale in this floral dress as compared to the one above.
And again here.
Prints are a beautiful way to express who you are and what message you want to put out into the world. If you're looking to add print to your basics and aren't sure how, follow these tips to help you choose the best ones for you!
