If "t-shirt and jeans" brings to mind frumpy and bland outfits then it's time to think again. I'm going to be showing you how you can wear these pieces and not compromise one iota on how stylish you look.

Style boyfriend jeans

Pop of Red

In this outfit, I'm wearing high-waisted mom jeans. For any non-skinny jeans, I always like to roll up the bottoms to make them that bit more figure-hugging. I've half-tucked the top in at the side for an interesting edge. Tucking it in like this also elongates my legs and accentuates my waistline. On my feet, I'm wearing a pair of pointy heels that are your best friend when it comes to helping petite women to look taller. I've matched my lipstick perfectly to the tomato red of the stripes on the top. The red tomato handbag also adds a pop of color, and I love this shade of red - it is such a vibrant color to wear in the summertime. To top it off, I used a skinny scarf to tie a knot on my head, and I think that this adds a nautical vibe as well as a vacation feel.

Effortless jeans style

Muscle Tee

I turned the red t-shirt into a muscle tee by tucking the sleeves underneath the shoulders. I was able to do this easily with this t-shirt because of the stretchy material. Styling the t-shirt like this creates an entirely different silhouette with a fake shoulder-pad illusion. This outfit makes me look and feel empowered.

Style straight leg jeans

Mint Green

This is the same outfit as the previous two looks but paired with a loose-fitting green blazer. I love a red on green look; the mint green of the blazer brings out the vibrant red of the t-shirt. I switched up my heels for a pair of statement sneakers that dress down the outfit slightly. A crossbody floral bag brings out the colors of the t-shirt as well as the blazer.

Easy jeans style

Bubblegum Pink

This look is even more casual. I swapped my blazer for a denim jacket as I love a denim on denim look, especially when the denim pieces are different colors or different shades of the same color. Pink and red are one of my favorite color combinations. For footwear, I'm wearing a pair of combat boots which creates a girly yet tomboyish look.

Styling jeans

Simple Skinnies

Switching the pants for something different, here I'm wearing skinny jeans in a dark gray color. They feel just as comfy as leggings, but they're jeans! I knotted the front of the t-shirt to create a crop-top look. This is an easy trick that you can apply to any t-shirt if you're looking to change up your style. On my feet, I have sneakers for a super casual look.

Style jeans

Here I'm wearing a fitted crew long-sleeved tee. It is super versatile and a great layering piece. I've gone for a black-on-black look and have dressed it up with accessories. I have on a gold buckle belt which draws accentuates the waist area. White combat boots and a choker necklace add a cool-girl vibe. The cylinder bucket bag is so haute couture and is the cherry on the cake.

High-waisted jeans style

Logo tee

This look is the same as the last, but I layered my favorite logo tee over the black long-sleeved top. This is a great way to wear your tees in the winter and stay warm at the same time. A metallic silver crossbody bag is the perfect accompaniment to the look.

Jeans style

Trench coat

This last look is my favorite of them all. I have on the white mom jeans with the black long-sleeved top. On top, I'm wearing a trench coat and a really thick belt. I love the belt worn over a coat look, although the coat is so stylish that it looks just as good when it's loose and undone. The stylish pouch bag looks super chic. This outfit is so elevated that the finished look is so much more than the sum of its parts.

I hope you picked up some inspiration for how to style a basic tee and jeans. The secret to looking elegant and put together is to simply make conscious decisions about what to wear. Be attentive to which colors compliment each other and which accessories will best elevate your outfit.
