How To Measure For Bra Size

A perfectly fitting bra is extremely important for comfort, circulation, and support. To measure yourself start with a lightly lined bra that has no push-up. The reason you want to measure yourself with a bra on rather than naked is because you want your breast lifted slightly with the support that a bra offers.

To start, take a tape measure and measure directly under your bust with the tape measure parallel to the floor.

Take this measurement with a slight tug and take note of the measurement.

Next, measure for your cup size. (remember to keep the tape measure parallel to the floor) Instead of tugging this time you’re going to pull the measuring tape to the fullest part of your breast where your nipple is. Take this number and this will be your cup size.

Now take the numbers for your bust and cup size and you can plug them into a calculator like Lane Bryant has and that will give you your exact bra size.

I have always tried this method, but I find different bra manufacturers as well as different bra styles differ widely in how they fit me. It's always bee frustrating to have to try on bra after bra to find one that fits and supports and is comfortable!

Hi Ginger, I know what you mean! It can be very frustrating, and I wish all sizes were the same across all brands. The same is true for clothing :/ I suggest, finding one brand that you love and sticking to that one brand!
