3 Ways to Wear Cargo Pants
Spring has officially arrived, and that means new fashion trends are ready for their close-ups. One trend this season is cargo pants. These jeans alternative were designed to be a rugged and practical addition to your wardrobe. They’re made to fit slightly loose for freedom of movement. They come in both full leg and cropped and usually tapered down the leg. Some have a drawstring waist so they can be worn wherever is comfortable but often slightly slouchy for a casual urban look. You’ll find them made from sturdy cotton material, so they are soft but durable. However, many designers are making more fashionable versions in different materials. The key feature in cargo pants is side pockets for functionality.
I’ve never been a big fan of jeans. It’s so hard to keep up with skinny fit to boot cut to straight legs and wide legs. But cargo pants are a look I can get behind. While they were designed to be practical workwear, the implied ruggedness can be perfect for a casual look or juxtaposed with more formal pairings.

Here are 3 ways to wear cargo pants.
Wear Cargo Pants Casual with a T-shirt and Sneakers
Keep it casual by pairing cargo pants with a t-shirt and your favorite kicks. This look can take you out all day for lunch, errands and other activities while being comfortable and stylish. If you’ve wanted a look that gets you out of your pandemic lounge-wear or athleisure, this is it.
Wear Cargo Pants More Formal with a Blazer, Tank and Oxford Shoes
Dress up your casual cargo pants with a blazer. Wear it over a tank top or blouse with more formal shoes such as leather oxfords or wedges. With cropped cargo pants you can also play with some fun socks with playful prints since they will show and you can color-coordinate them with your outfit. The more formal style of this outfit can give you an on-trend evening look for dinner, movies, concerts and other social gatherings.
Wear Cargo Pants Edgy with a Moto Jacket, T-shirt and Ankle Booties
If your style leans more rebellious, put an edge to the trend by teaming up cargo pants with a graphic t-shirt, moto or jean jacket and some ankle booties. You can also jazz them up with metal hardware accessories such as layered necklaces, belts, and bracelets.
