How to Wear Paper Bag Pants for Work
You’ve asked for more work outfits, and I have some today for you! I want to share how to wear paper bag pants in an office setting.
Wondering how to wear paper bag pants for work? Whether you work a traditional office job, are a teacher, or just need some business casual outfits, here are 4 cute outfits with paper bab pants that are also work-appropriate.
How to Wear Paper Bag Pants
1. Try paper bag waist pants with a statement blouse
This floral blouse is a great dress up/dress down kind of piece. I’ve worn it with jeans and skirts, but it also looks great with dress pants. The paper bag waistband has a lot of fabric so I’d recommend tucking a top like this in fully to keep your waist area from feeling too bulky with lots of fabric.
Also whether your pants are colorful like mine or neutral and dark (like navy, black, or gray), a top like this will add a pop of fun and interest to a professional outfit.
2. Wear your paper bag waist pants with a lightweight sweater
I chose a button up sweater for some interest, but you could absolutely do a plain pullover sweater. Again, I half tucked to keep the front from feeling bulky. If your sweater is thick, tucking or half tucking will add more bulk around your waist, so I’d recommend choosing a lightweight sweater.
3. An elevated tee is great for work with these paper bag waist pants
A classic dress shirt is a given for work outfits, but this puffed sleeve tee totally works too, as long as your work’s dress code allows more casual pieces. The statement sleeves help the top feel more special, and the statement sleeves also balance the statement waist of the pants. I chose neutral shoes since the top and pants are both statements. You could also do flats or heels with this too!
4. A blazer works great with paper bag waist pants
I love a good fitted blazer, and this one is fantastic and classic. I always prefer a single breasted blazer to a double breasted one, since I always wear blazers open and open double breasted blazers have so much fabric in the front.
Especially with the extra fabric and the bow at the waist, the single breasted blazer creates a professional and streamlined look over the pants. If you wore a long cardigan, the fabric might catch on the paper bag waist, but the blazer is thicker and sturdy enough that it smooths over nicely without any lumps and bumps.
