Save or Splurge

Do you believe in spending the money on designer accessories or would you rather save the money and buy the cheaper high street equivalents?

Do you believe in spending more money on designer pieces for the quality that would last year after year? Or would you rather save the money and spend it on something else and buy the equivalent cheaper options? I like to mix-and-match the accessories in my wardrobe and have both designer pieces and High Street equivalents.

In the photo above, I’m wearing the Hermes Oran sandals. It has taken me a few years to save up the money and courage to actually invest in them but I feel like they are such a classic and are definitely worth the money.

However having said that, I do have the high street version of these sandals which are of excellent quality and have seen me through summer after summer and still look immaculate. I always make sure that the cheaper versions I buy are of a good quality and made of great materials.

Whenever I choose designer pieces, I always go for items that I can wear year after year, a classic piece in a neutral colour that will go with everything and anything in my wardrobe.

After all if I spent all that money on an item I want to know that it is versatile enough to work with most things and will last.

The bag above is a couple of years old, but here is a link to a great basket bag, from the same brand:

Having purchased the basket bag in the photograph above, a couple of years ago and knowing that I have worn it all summer long with many outfits, I made a decision to save up and invest in the designer piece. . Last month I bought the Celine basket bag which will work well with all of my summer wardrobe and will see me through every holiday for the next few years.

So if you decide to invest in a designer item, my advice is to make sure it’s worth the investment- that you will wear it time and time again to make the most of your investment. However, if you don’t, there are plenty of equivalent items on the market and as long as you invest in good quality items they will work well for you and last for a long time.
