How to Style Biker Shorts

Biker shorts - they’re back this year. I like to refer to them as the leggings of summer. If you’ve given the trend a try, you know they are downright comfortable. And you also probably know they’re a little hard to style, especially if you’re looking for a look other than loungewear. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired on how and where to wear your biker shorts.

This is a style you’ve probably seen often, but it’s for good reason. It’s so easy, comfortable and casual. I’d throw this on to run errands or even to meet a friend for a lunch or coffee date. Wearing a patterned biker short -- even a subtle camo, like this pair -- or a bright graphic tee is an easy way to jazz up this look. For sneakers, I always love wearing my leopard ones, but you could do Converse or even a more athletic option.

I love this look, because it’s every bit as comfortable and easy as the first one, but a little more elevated. The material, print and cut of the tunic top adds a level of spice to the biker shorts that a t-shirt can’t touch. Since it feels a little bit less like you’re wearing workout clothes, you have more options of places to wear this and shoes to pair with it. For instance, you can easily do a cute studded sandal to pull the look together. I’d wear this for a day of shopping or as a travel outfit.

I’m new to the crop tank game, and honestly, I didn’t think I would wear this outside of the house. Enter biker shorts. They are the best bottom to pair with a cropped top, since they come up nice and high. To feel a little less exposed, I paired a lightweight beach shirt over the top of this. You could also tie it around your waist or throw it over your shoulders, if it’s too hot where you live for extra layers. Add a summer sandal and you’re ready to hit a patio for drinks with friends or a backyard BBQ.

Same look as above, just swap out the beach shirt for a fun, printed kimono. And add a chic looking pair of sandals. Now, you’ve got a very feminine and cute take on the biker short style -- the perfect brunch or winery look if you ask me.
