The satin skirt featured in all these outfit ideas is from Amazon. I have never worn a satin slip skirt before, so I wanted an affordable version to see how I like it.
This one comes in 11 colors and retails for under $35. I’m wearing the shade Champagne which is coming across a little pink on camera.
You may also hear this style referred to as a “slip skirt” which is typically a midi length. The quality of this particular brand is better than I expected, and it runs true to size. I’m wearing a medium and it has a simple elastic pull on waistband.
The first way to wear a satin skirt is dressed up for work, a special occasion, or church. This is a good transition to fall idea for the warmer days, but you could easily switch out the top for a long sleeve version.
My top is from Banana Republic Factory, and my cap toed sling back shoes are from Amazon.
Style Tip: When wearing a skirt like this, you want minimal bulk from tucking in a shirt. I get around this by actually tucking the hem of my shirt underneath my bra. If your shirt is long enough, it works like a charm!
Maybe you want to wear a satin skirt, but your lifestyle is more casual…try this combination. Outfits that have a juxtapostion of dressy and casual are interesting and unexpected. If you search satin skirt outfits on Pinterest, you will see lots of these combinations.
The formula is simply a fitted tee + satin skirt + white sneakers + optional denim jacket
I bought several of these ribbed tees from Target. They are essential basics that go with anything! I’m wearing a medium in this light pink color. Check this link for all the available colors…I have my eye on the dark green.
This next outfit is a personal favorite as it hits that middle ground between the dressy look of outfit one and the casual look of outfit two.
The formula for this outfit is a white button down + satin skirt + mules.
To avoid a traditional front tuck with this top, I tied it in a knot and tucked the tails under the knot for a smooth look.
My off-white mules are a new purchase from Target. They look much more expensive than the $30 price point.
Outfit Four
Another way to style a satin skirt is with a neutral sweater. I live in the south, so a short sleeve sweater is a must-have for my fall wardrobe. You could easily switch out the short sleeve sweater for a long sleeve version.
This mock neck sweater is another recent Target purchase. I picked up two of these: one in this taupe color and a black one. I’m wearing a medium and this is such a deal at $20!
So if you would like to recreate this look the outfit formula is: Sweater + satin skirt + mules
Outfit Five
There are so many fun ways to style a satin skirt or a slip skirt, but we will stop with this last outfit idea.
This look is certainly appropriate for the workplace, but don’t limit your blazers for workwear! This outfit can be worn for any occasion, especially when paired with ballet flats.
The outfit formula for this look is: sleevless mockneck top + blazer + satin skirt + ballet flats
