Today I will be showing you a brilliant disappearing eyeliner and eyeshadow combination technique. This method is meant to perfect eyeliner for hooded eyes, downturned eyes, or mature eyes.

We're often told that winged eyeliner is the gold standard. However, if you have hooded eyes, then the wing can interfere with your hood and look distorted. So, how about if that wing disappears and melts into the eyeshadow instead?

This look is not only stunning but super easy to pull off and makes your eyes look more lifted. Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Eyeshadow palette
  • Eyeshadow and makeup brushes
  • Eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Eyelash curler
  • Eyelash comb
Filling in brows with a brush and eyeshadow

1. Brows

Fill in your brows as normal. I am using eyeshadow to fill in my eyebrows.

Applying concealer to the eyelid

2. Apply concealer

Apply concealer beneath your eyebrow and on your eyelid to clean it up. Set it with a setting powder.

Applying a lilac base color to the eyelid

3. Apply a base color

You want to use a super soft shade like lilac to start. I am applying it to the base of my eyelid with a big fluffy brush to diffuse out the outer edge of your eye.

The larger brush helps give a nice soft effect in the outer corner. It also makes the eye look more elongated.

Applying the base color to the lower lash line

4. Lower lash line

Use the same shade on a smaller and flat, fluffy brush and smoke it out on your lower lash line.

Deepening the outer corner with a darker eyeshadow

5. Deepen the outer corner

Use a rust-like color on a large blending brush to deepen the outer corners of your eyelids.

Applying the darker eyeshadow to the lower lash line

6. Apply to the lower lash line

Use a pencil brush to apply the same shade just in the outer corner of the lower lash line. The idea here is to create that buffed-out ombre effect.

Intensifying the color by packing onto the outer corner

7. Intensify the color

Use the same shade on a smaller brush to pack it into the outer corner of your upper lash line.

Buffing out the eyeshadow with a blending brush

8. Buff it out

Buff it out with a blending brush.

Brightening the inner corner of the eyeshadow

9. Brighten the inner corner

Use a nude, neutral shade on a flat brush to brighten up the inner half of your eyelid.

Drawing eyeliner for hooded eyes

10. Apply eyeliner

I am using gel liner but you can use any eyeliner.

Start from the inner corner of your eyelid and work your way out. Do not go all the way to the end. You want to leave a small gap in the outer corner.

Make the eyeliner a tad thicker in the outer part.

Making the eyeliner disappear by smudging and softening

11. Make the eyeliner disappear

Use a flat definer brush to smudge and soften the eyeliner in the outer corner.

Applying black eyeshadow to make the liner disappear

12. Apply black eyeshadow

Use a small blending brush to apply and diffuse black eyeshadow to the outer corner of your eyelid, right where the gap is.

Blending the eyeshadow

13. Blend

To create a seamless blend, use a large blending brush to buff everything out.

Curling lashes with an eyelash curler

Applying mascara to eyelashes

14. Apply mascara

Curl your lashes and apply your mascara as normal.

Using a lash comb to separate lashes

15. Use a lash comb

Use a lash comb to separate out your lashes for a more natural look.
