DIY Fizzy Bath Powder With Himalayan Pink Salt

You’ve probably heard of bath salts and bath bombs, but how about fizzy bath powder with salts?! These bad boys are the best of both worlds, combining mineral-rich Himalayan pink salt with the trifecta of fizzing ingredients used to make bath bombs.

The result is a fizzy bath ‘powder’ that acts as a bath bomb, but is much faster to make! This bath powder fizzes when put in the tub AND delivers a healthy dose of relaxing minerals from the Himalayan pink salt.

These fizzy bath salts are unscented, making them great for sensitive skin and kids! Of course, you can add your favorite essential oils if you like. Mix in 5-7 drops with the almond oil before combining with the dry ingredients.

Fizzy bath powder, or fizzy bath salts, are great for kids too, because you can whip up a batch in no time, and they will love the fizzy action from the bath powder. Maybe my kids will actually want to take a bath (it’s worth a shot, right?).

What makes them fizz?

Citric acid and baking soda are the primary fizzing ingredients in fizzy bath powder. The fizzing effect is activated when those ingredients are wet, so it’s essential to keep the bath powder dry until you’re ready to use them.

When you’re mixing in the almond oil, you do so slowly so that you don’t activate the fizz too early.

Let’s get started!

How to Make Fizzing Bath Salts

  1. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl, and stir well with a whisk for about 1 minute.

2. Slowly add the sweet almond oil while whisking the entire time.

3. Store in an airtight container.

How to Make Scented Fizzy Bath Salts

It’s so simple to make this fizzy bath powder scented; all you’ll need is a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Add 5-7 drops of essential oil to the almond oil before mixing it with dry ingredients.

Adding the essential oil to the almond oil helps evenly distribute the essential oil throughout.

I always love a citrus-scented bath, like sweet orange or grapefruit. And lavender is always an excellent choice for a relaxing bath.

How to Store Fizzy Bath Powder

Store your homemade bath salts in an air-tight container, away from water. They will keep at room temperature for up to 3 months.

Keep these DRY since water activates the fizzy action, and you don’t want them to fizz until bath time!

Fizzy Bath Salts are Totally Giftable

These make a super simple and quick-to-whip-up DIY gift and are even better if paired with homemade Himalayan salt scrub! Think Mother’s Day, teacher’s gifts, Christmas gifts, or just because! Add a cute little wooden scoop like this one, and this gift will be a hit for sure.
